DALLAS, Texas — Pakistani-American community leader Dr. Sajid Tarar and Sikh-American civic leader Dr. Jasdip Singh Jesse attended the Republican Party’s first midterm convention at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on September 9, 2026. The two-day gathering brought together party leaders and supporters ahead of the November congressional elections.

President Donald Trump addressed the convention on its opening evening. Tarar welcomed the occasion in a Facebook post, describing his attendance as an honor and calling Trump’s address a “landmark speech.”

Tarar, founder and chairman of Muslims of America and founder of American Muslims for Trump, has maintained a visible presence in Republican politics for more than a decade. He gained national recognition during the 2016 presidential campaign, when he established American Muslims for Trump and delivered the closing prayer on the second evening of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

Jesse, chairman of Sikhs of America and founder of Sikhs for Trump, has been active in Sikh-American civic engagement, interfaith dialogue and community advocacy. His public work has focused on encouraging participation in American civic life and strengthening relationships between community organizations and political leaders.

The two leaders have appeared together at political and community events over the years and have met Trump on previous occasions. Their attendance in Dallas continued that longstanding involvement in Republican political gatherings.
Beyond politics, both have pursued community service and public outreach. In June 2026, Jesse received the National Council of Asian Indian Associations’ Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his contributions to community development and civic engagement.
