Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups is scheduled to open in cinemas on August 26 after three postponements, turning the Geetu Mohandas-directed film into the month’s most closely watched pan-India release.
The film marks Yash’s first major theatrical follow-up to the global success of KGF: Chapter 2. Its ensemble includes Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth, giving the project a broad multilingual commercial profile beyond its Kannada base.
Toxic arrives at a crowded point in the August calendar. It follows the releases of Awarapan 2, Batwara 1947 and Dulquer Salmaan’s I Am Game, while Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha is also scheduled for August 26. That makes the opening weekend a test of whether two high-profile films can draw separate audiences or whether one will dominate screens and premium showtimes.
The release has carried unusual expectation because of Yash’s post-KGF positioning and the film’s long production timeline. Repeated date changes have kept the project in entertainment headlines, but they have also increased the pressure on opening-day occupancy, advance bookings and audience response.
The film’s commercial challenge is not limited to Hindi-speaking markets. Toxic is being positioned for audiences across southern India and the wider Hindi market, where a strong opening can determine its ability to hold screens through the following weekend.
The decisive new development is now concrete: Toxic has reached its announced August 26 theatrical date. Early box-office reporting, audience reviews and the screen-sharing battle with Eetha will determine whether the delayed film converts anticipation into a durable pan-India run.
