Taapsee Pannu’s action thriller Gandhari will premiere on Netflix on September 3, placing a mother’s search for her daughter at the centre of a physically demanding survival story.

The film is written and produced by Kanika Dhillon and directed by Devashish Makhija. Pannu plays Bani, whose pursuit takes her through the fictional town of Joypurra and into a series of escalating dangers. Netflix describes the role as one of the actor’s most action-intensive performances.

The supporting cast includes Ishwak Singh, Chhaya Kadam, Swastika Mukherjee, Mita Vashisht and Jatin Sarna. Their characters surround Bani’s search, though the official announcement keeps major plot details and relationships under wraps.

Bani’s journey is raw, relentless and deeply personal.

Gandhari extends the creative partnership between Pannu and Dhillon after Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba. This time, the announced premise shifts away from romantic suspense toward maternal determination and action, with Makhija bringing the grounded intensity associated with his character-driven work.

The release also fits Netflix India’s continued investment in star-led original films designed for simultaneous global streaming. A story anchored by a recognizable Hindi-film lead can travel widely, but Gandhari’s reception will depend on whether the action remains connected to Bani’s emotional stakes rather than functioning as spectacle alone.

Netflix’s announcement identifies September 3 as the global premiere date. An official announcement video is available through Netflix India’s YouTube channel, while additional footage and final promotional material are expected closer to release.
