Sonya Hussaiyn has marked an International Best Actor Achievement Award for Deemak with a detailed tribute to the people behind the Pakistani film, describing the recognition as especially meaningful because it was received on home soil at the Sunday Icon Awards.
In a new Instagram carousel from the ceremony, Hussyn thanked director Rafay Rashdi, producer Murad, writer Abu Jinns, co-stars Samina Peerzada, Faysal Quraishi and Bushra Ansari, as well as cinematographer Rana Kamran. The post turned an individual acting award into a public acknowledgement of the team that made the film.
Winning Best Actor internationally for Deemak was an extraordinary honour, but receiving this recognition at home feels especially close to my heart.

Hussyn also credited the Sunday Times and Sunday Icon Awards for continuing to celebrate artists. She named members of her styling and design team, including Ozi, Fahad Hussayn, Karishma Kewalramani and Saad Hassan, while reserving a more personal section of the post for her parents, siblings and close friends.
Her sister, actor Sana Hussyn, received a playful mention after attending the event following back-to-back shoots. Hussyn also thanked Mansoor, whom she called a constant source of support.
The latest recognition adds fresh attention to Deemak, which previously brought Hussyn an international acting honour at the Diamond Butterfly Award in Moscow. The film’s ensemble includes Quraishi, Peerzada, Ansari and Javed Sheikh, and it represented Pakistan among entries from 17 countries at that event.
The important new development is Hussyn’s August 31 award-night post and confirmation that the recognition was celebrated at the Sunday Icon Awards in Pakistan. It extends the film’s awards narrative while keeping the focus on the actor’s documented acknowledgment of the collaborators who shaped her performance.
Sonya Hussaiyn ended the message with a broader wish for Pakistan’s creative community: protection for its artists, children and talent.
