Hi, the Tamil comedy-drama starring Nayanthara and Kavin, opened in Indian cinemas on Friday, August 28, 2026.
Directed by Vishnu Edavan, the film follows two people with sharply different beliefs about love who are pushed into an awkward situation. The story then examines how that encounter changes their understanding of relationships.
The cast also includes Raadhika Sarathkumar, K Bhagyaraj, Prabhu, Amrutha Srinivasan, VTV Ganesh, Fefsi Vijayan, Renji Panicker and Sathyan. Nayanthara is also credited as a producer alongside Vignesh Shivan, while Zee Studios is listed among the film’s production partners.
Hi arrives in Tamil after a promotional campaign that included language-specific trailers and a theatrical date announcement for August 28. Its release places Nayanthara in a central acting and production role, while Kavin leads a romantic family entertainer designed for a broad theatrical audience.
The film is listed at approximately two hours and 24 minutes and carries a UA13+ classification. It is positioned as a romance-led comedy-drama rather than an action spectacle, with the cast and relationship premise driving its opening-weekend appeal.
