Madhuri Dixit is returning to television hosting after a 24-year gap, taking charge of the Marathi quiz programme *Kon Honar Crorepati*.
The show is adapted from the *Kaun Banega Crorepati* format and will place Dixit in a presenter role built around contestants’ knowledge, ambitions and personal stories. The project marks a notable shift from her recent television appearances as a judge and guest to leading a recurring programme herself.
A promotional video shows Dixit in a traditional Maharashtrian look, including a green-and-gold sari and regional jewellery. She introduces the programme in Marathi and describes it as a new conversation for households across Maharashtra.
Dixit has previously hosted television programming, but her return comes after more than two decades away from the role. The move also gives the programme a familiar national film face while keeping its language and cultural identity rooted in Maharashtra.
The Marathi edition follows the broad popularity of the Hindi *Kaun Banega Crorepati*, traditionally associated with Amitabh Bachchan. Rather than replacing that version, *Kon Honar Crorepati* expands the franchise’s regional television footprint.
Dixit has said the contestants’ stories and dreams were central to her decision to accept the project. The show’s arrival will test how her cinematic star power translates into a format dependent on intimacy, quick interaction and sustained audience engagement.
The programme is expected to premiere soon, with its promotional campaign already underway.
