Jiiva and Rajisha Vijayan’s Tamil film Thagappan has completed principal photography, with the makers confirming a December 2026 theatrical release.
Jiiva shared the wrap announcement on X with a video of the unit celebrating the finish. The post, issued on August 30, describes the film’s production as complete and keeps the release window unchanged: cinemas in December.
A production note released through the film’s publicity team adds a useful detail behind the concise social-media reveal. Directed by Ra. Venkat and produced by K. Kumar’s Lark Studios, Thagappan was planned as a 45-day shoot but was completed in 40 days.
The film was shot in and around Madurai, with its story built around a father-son relationship and family bonds. Rajisha Vijayan plays the female lead, while Lakshmy Ramakrishnan and child actor Keshav feature in pivotal roles. M. Sukumar is the cinematographer, Marshall Robinson composes the music and Nagooran Ramachandran edits.
The wrap is a fresh production milestone rather than a title announcement or an old poster revival. The project’s first look had already established its father-and-child visual focus; the new update formally moves it into post-production.
Thagappan is Lark Studios’ fifth production and gives Jiiva a distinctly rural, family-drama vehicle after the actor’s more recent commercial releases. The official post has been picked up by Tamil film trade and entertainment coverage, while the verified 40-day schedule offers the clearest new fact beyond the celebratory video.
With filming complete, the next material confirmation expected from the team is a release-date announcement within the stated December window, followed by the film’s promotional assets.
