Pakistani actors Iqra Aziz and Sonya Hussaiyn have publicly condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a nine-month-old girl in Mandi Bahauddin, adding prominent showbiz voices to a national conversation about child safety, consent education and institutional accountability.

Police said they arrested a suspect after a complaint was filed over the alleged assault in Sohawa Bolani, within the Civil Lines police jurisdiction. Dawn reported that the child was injured and that an investigation had begun.

Aziz, who is herself a mother of an infant, responded in an Instagram Story after learning of the case. She questioned how violence against women and children had become so persistent, and argued that parents should not have to rely only on personal vigilance to keep their children safe.

A Pakistan where predators are afraid of the law, not where parents are afraid for their children.

Hussaiyn also addressed the case in an Instagram post, criticising a system she said repeatedly fails people. Their responses were reported by Dawn Images on September 2, following the police case reported the previous day.

The public reaction is notable because it does not centre on entertainment-industry gossip or a celebrity appearance. Aziz and Hussaiyn used their platforms to focus on child protection, legal consequences for alleged offenders and the wider social failures that allow abuse to remain underreported or normalised.

The criminal allegation remains subject to investigation and judicial process. The confirmed development is that police said a suspect had been detained, while the two actors separately issued public calls for stronger safeguards and accountability.

The case has now moved from a local police report into a wider public discussion led in part by two of Pakistan’s most visible television actors.
