Bandar will begin streaming on ZEE5 on August 28, giving Bobby Deol’s latest dramatic role a second release window after its theatrical run.
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the Hindi film stars Deol as Samar Mehra, a fading television actor whose life collapses after a woman from his past accuses him of rape. Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Sapna Pabbi and Indrajith Sukumaran are also part of the cast.
The film’s central tension is the distance between accusation, public judgment and legal proof. Its premise places a recognizable entertainment figure inside a criminal-justice system where reputation can move faster than the court process. The story is fictional and described as inspired by real events and experiences rather than a direct retelling of one identified case.
The ZEE5 launch gives Bandar a new audience at a time when streaming platforms are increasingly using socially charged Hindi dramas to build conversation beyond opening-weekend box office. For Deol, the film extends a run of darker, more vulnerable performances, while Kashyap’s direction signals a deliberately uncomfortable tone rather than a conventional star vehicle.
The streaming release also changes how audiences may encounter the film. Viewers can watch it at home, revisit its treatment of public perception and discuss the ethical questions without the limited theatrical window that shaped its initial reach.
ZEE5’s official listing confirms August 28 as the streaming date. The platform’s release will provide the next measurable test of whether Bandar’s justice-and-reputation theme finds a wider audience online.
