Awarapan 2 entered its second week with steady theatrical business, but published estimates for its eighth day differ. NDTV Profit, citing Sacnilk, reported an India nett collection of Rs. 5.75 crore on Day 8 and a cumulative Rs. 119.25 crore. NDTV reported a Day 8 estimate of Rs. 5.50 crore and an eight-day total of Rs. 119 crore.

The variation shows why live box-office numbers should be treated as estimates until producers or distributors release reconciled figures. Both reports nevertheless point to a relatively stable second Friday after the film completed its opening week.

Strong opening week

The film opened at approximately Rs. 22 crore nett in India, followed by a sharp Saturday rise and sustained Sunday business. Collections slowed during the weekdays, as expected, before the second-week test began.

The romantic action drama was released on August 14 and stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi. Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, it continues the story introduced in the 2007 film Awarapan.

Competition will intensify with the release of Yash-led Toxic on August 26. The clearest measure of Awarapan 2’s longer theatrical strength will be how well it retains screens and audiences once that film arrives.
