Indian streaming audiences have a packed final weekend of August, with Alia Bhatt’s Alpha, Bobby Deol’s Bandar and the Michael Jackson biopic Michael among the most prominent new arrivals.
Alpha, the female-led YRF Spy Universe action film starring Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh, began streaming on Netflix after its theatrical run. The film also features Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol and is directed by Shiv Rawail.
Bandar, starring Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra, has arrived on ZEE5. The drama follows a television star whose life collapses after an accusation, placing media judgment, public opinion and the legal process at the centre of its story.
Michael, the music biopic focused on Michael Jackson, is listed among the weekend’s major arrivals on JioHotstar. Its presence gives the Indian OTT cycle a global music hook alongside the week’s Hindi and regional releases.
The lineup reflects the increasingly compressed path from theatrical release to streaming. Films that once occupied separate release windows are now competing for attention in the same weekend, with star power, franchise recognition and platform visibility driving discovery.
For Indian viewers, the result is a three-way entertainment conversation: Alpha offers franchise action, Bandar brings a darker performance-led drama and Michael targets the global music-biopic audience. The titles arrive as platforms compete to define the final weekend of August viewing slate.
